Former President George HW Bush to toss coin at Super Bowl LI

It takes more than pneumonia to keep George H.W. Bush from attending the Super Bowl.

Former President George H.W. Bush, 92, and his wife, former First Lady Barbara Bush, 91, are headed to Super Bowl LI on February 5 to participate in the game in a totally epic way.

"The Bushes didn't hesitate for one second in accepting it", said Jim McGrath, the couple's spokesperson. "They were very enthusiastic about wanting to participate and we're honored to have them", Goodell said.

Goodell said that he approached the Bushes in December about taking part in the game in their adopted home town of Houston.

"I think you all know that both of them had a little bit of a setback recently, healthwise, but I've heard from both of them and they are excited and anxious to be here". Bush was also treated at Houston Methodist during her husband's stay for bronchitis.

Barbara Bush, meanwhile, checked into the hospital on January 18 "as a precaution after experiencing fatigue and coughing", according to McGrath.

The former president took to Twitter on Wednesday to announce he was "getting fired up" to take part in Sunday's pregame ritual before the Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots face off.
