More than 100000 visas have been revoked because of Trump's Muslim ban

A US Justice Department lawyer, speaking during a court hearing, said 100,000 visas have been cancelled, the Washington Post reported.

The lawyer for the Justice Department, Simon Sandoval-Moshenberg revealed that this number was for a single week in response to President Trump's executive immigration order. That figure doesn't count expired visas or diplomatic visas that are exempt from the President's order.

The executive order bans people from traveling to the USA from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen for three months, suspends new-refugee admissions for 120 days and bars Syrian refugees indefinitely.

Regardless, almost 60,000 revoked visas is a lot of revoked visas.

"It's quite clear that not all the thought went into it that should have gone into it", Judge Brinkema told the Post.

It is believed that up to 200 people have been detained at United States airports or in transit because of the order. "We recognize that those individuals are temporarily inconvenienced while we conduct our review under the Executive Order", Cocks said in a statement. Reuveni said that no one who is a legal permanent resident of the USA or a green-card holder was kept from entering the country.

United States VISA in a european passport.

"To put that number in context, we issued over 11 million immigrant and non-immigrant visas in fiscal year 2015", he said, insisting national security remains "top priority".

"The Immigration and Nationality Act provides no way to legally effectuate such a ban against this category of immigrants", the Virginia lawsuit states.

Herring's office had also been seeking to hold government officials in contempt for the way they handled travelers from the seven banned countries over the weekend, but Brinkema declined saying she did not know enough Friday to make that determination.

"I think you could nearly hear the collective gasp in the courtroom when the government attorney stated that number that over 100,000 visas have been canceled".

The detailed request demands to see all agency communications regarding the executive order and following court orders.
