Doctors quell rumours on Jayalalithaa's treatment & Death

Late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa was suffering from septicaemia, fever, hydration, uncontrolled sugar, urinary infection and bacterial infection in her blood.

"There was no conspiracy; nothing unusual happened during her treatment at Apollo".

This was for nominating All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) candidates for elections to two seats and bypoll to one segment previous year. Dr Richard Beale, who was in-charge of her treatment, revealed that it was severe infection with damage to organs that led to her death.

Beale said at that time "it was not clear" what the source of infection was "but subsequent tests showed there was indeed infection in her blood". Later, she had recovered and become interactive, said Dr Beale.

Dr Beale said the AIADMK leader was given the best possible treatment and even intermittently conscious for days during her prolonged hospitalisation.

The 68-year old CM suffered from diabetes, cellulitis and hypertension among other ailments, according to her 2014 bail plea filed with the Karnataka High Court following her conviction in the disproportionate assets case.

The doctor said it was chose to discontinue the process after about 24 hours and the decision was taken after consultation with all doctors, including the AIIMS team, who had arrived. The developments were conveyed to VK Sasikala, who was her closest aide. It is an intrusion of privacy unless they specifically want that to happen. They said the press conference was meant to put to rest the speculation over what led to Jayalalithaa's death.

White House Defends Holocaust Statement That Doesn't Mention Jews
Jewish groups, about the omission of Jews from the statement issued Friday were "pathetic" and "disappointing". As Elie Wiesel said, 'Not all victims were Jews, but all Jews were victims'.

He said the idea of exhuming Jayalalithaa's body for post-mortem was ridiculous.

One of the questioners even told Dr Beale that the answers were "unconvincing", to which he responded with wonder and surprise. In an official statement after the demise of Jayalalithaa, doctors said she had suffered a cardiac arrest.

Dr. Babu, one the of the doctors who were treating Jayalalithaa, also informed that a periodic briefing was given to current general secretary of the AIADMK, V.K. Sasikala on the former chief minister's death.

The press meet was addressed by consultant intensivist Dr Richard Beale from UK, Madras Medical College Director and Vice-Principal, Institute of Anatomy Dr Sudha Seshayyan besides Dr Balaji, the government coordinator and Dr Babu Abraham with Apollo Hospital.

The doctors said that Jayalalithaa was communicating through sign language and the doctors attempted lip reading to understand but as her condition improve initially she was aware and able to interact more.

On being asked why there were no images of Jayalalithaa released, Dr Baele said, "No images are taken of critically ill patients in ICU".
