ZTE announced on Tuesday that the budget friendly phone will now be Daydream-ready as well, once you download a software update that also brings Android 7.0 Nougat straight to the phone. Although the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive have better quality, the Google Daydream is a sound VR headset on its own, and with ZTE's announcement, the virtual reality ecosystem has grown even more.

ZTE has announced that the Axon 7 is now receiving an update to Android 7.0 Nougat. Users will still need to purchase a Daydream View headset, which is now on sale for $50. There aren't many handsets out there that have earned Google's blessing but the Axon 7 is one of them. While the Daydream VR compatibility is being added to devices via the Android Nougat update, Google's artificially intelligent voice assistant, the Google Assistant, is expected to come to a broader range of devices with the next Android update called Android 8.0 or Android O. Others members of this select club are the Pixels, the Moto Z, ASUS ZenFone AR and Huawei's Mate 9 Pro and Mate 9 Porsche Design.
