Trump has tweeted his dismay on Wednesday following reports that Nordstrom has opted to drop his daughter Ivanka's clothing and accessory line. But as Trump's own tweet points out by saying she is "always pushing me to do the right thing"-clearly Ivanka has some influence".

In the wake of President Donald Trump's Twitter attack on Nordstrom, shares for the retailer actually rose 4.1 percent Wednesday.

As many critics noted, it appeared that Trump was using his presidential office to boost his daughter's company - raising yet another potential conflict of interest in an administration that has blurred the lines between government and Trump family business projects.

Nordstrom said, however, that the company has "had a great relationship with the Ivanka Trump team".

An Ivanka Trump rep told fashion website Refinery 29, "Nordstrom ordered both apparel and shoes for the spring, and followed through with the orders on the apparel".

Larry Noble, the general counsel of the Campaign Legal Center, a nonpartisan organization of election law experts, told CNN Trump's tweet was completely inappropriate.

"We made this decision based on performance". We offer a rapidly changing selection of merchandise for our customers, and brands are featured based on a number of factors. "Awful!" the leader of the free world tweeted - on both his personal and official POTUS accounts - about 10:45 a.m.

Nordstrom said it removed the items due to slow sales.

"We've got thousands of brands", the spokesperson said.

There's actually a #GrabYourWallet movement to boycott all Trump-related products.

So far, Nordstrom isn't responding to the president's comment, but they did release a statement about the decision last week. In addition to advising department stores against carrying the line, Coulter, now a Bay-area marketing consultant, suggested women stop buying Trump's clothing and accessories.

Ivanka, who relinquished control of her company last month, has no formal role in the Trump administration but remains very close to the White House.
