A Plane Made an Emergency Landing After Hitting a Deer During Takeoff

Plane strikes deer while taking off at Charlotte airport

The airport will look into how the deer got onto the runway, an airport spokeswoman told the Observer.

Emergency crews were called out to the collision and used foam on the plane after the collision with the animal caused a fuel leak.

The American Eagle flight struck a deer shortly after taking off from North Carolina's worldwide airport in the U.S., forcing it to turn around and abort a flight to Mississippi.

FAA officials say the crew taxied the aircraft off the runway and onto a taxiway to allow passengers to exit.

Experts say gas prices holding steady for now
Ohio's average remains below the national average, which was $2.28 for regular fuel on Monday, up a penny from a week earlier. It said the national average is 57 cents a gallon higher than previous year but 7 cents a gallon lower than last month.

The plane, which was headed to Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport in MS, began leaking fuel shortly after taking to the air.

Passengers were evacuated and taken to the terminal to be placed on another plane.

"The airplane came immediately back to the airport and landed safely".

No injuries were reported.
