Kerala cops moral police couple, get recorded on Facebook Live

Is the CM listening? After goons on V-day Kerala cops caught moral policing

The incident happened days after state Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had pointed out that strict action would be taken against those who indulge in moral policing.

According to The News Minute, the couple, Vishnu and Arathy were sitting in a garden outside the Napier museum in Thiruvananthapuram when the police spotted them. This prompted Arathi to take visuals and stream it live on Facebook.

The female police constables went on to say their behavior in public was vulgar. When asked about what vulgarism we are showing, they called someone on phone and said we are kissing. To this, they replied: "We are not trying to punish you; we would like to inform your parents". To this, Vishnu demanded to know what we had done wrong.

The couple was eventually taken to a police station and then let off. The constables, she said, asked whether they were married or not.

Residents evacuate after levee breach in California
In the San Joaquin Valley, residents were patrolling levees for signs of danger, reviewing evacuation plans and filling sandbags. After the flash flood warnings were issued, evacuation process also picked up pace on Monday.

"We were asked whether we are going to marry or not". Behra said such incidents should not have taken place.

"In our country we impose self-restrain on Public Display of Affection (PDA) due to our culture and tradition", writes the chief, "though there is no legal ban for PDA". "Whatever the police did can not be justified", said Vishnu. They were reportedly released after the parents of the couple came to the police station.

"We just warned them as the couple showed some obscene gestures". But they created a scene by calling the media and posting the video on social media. In the FB video, Vishnu is then seen demanding to know what law he broke by sitting with his arm around the shoulders of a woman. Incidents of moral policing and harassment of couples on roads and public parks are reported every year around Valentines' Day, but most perpetrators are found to be locals toughs belonging to certain groups.
