Off-duty LAPD officer fires gun during physical struggle with teenage boy

Off-duty LAPD pulls a weapon on the kids

Scores of protesters clashed with police on the streets of Anaheim Wednesday night as they called for the arrest of an off-duty Los Angeles police officer who was caught on video firing his gun during a confrontation with teens outside his Anaheim home Tuesday afternoon, reports CBS Los Angeles.

The act angered the officer, who reportedly cursed at the girl.

Anaheim Mayor Tom Tait said in a statement that Anaheim was committed to a full and impartial investigation of the incident.

The city's Public Safety Board, which is responsible for hearing public grievances and overseeing the city's public safety policies, will meet Thursday evening at 7 p.m.

In the video, the teen can be heard saying that the officer got upset with a girl who was walking on his lawn, and that the teen was only coming to the girl's defense.

The confrontation "began over ongoing issues with juveniles walking across the officer's property", according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The clip does not reveal how the incident began, but shows the teen repeatedly telling the cop to let him go.

"There was a high degree of consistency in the information that we received in the interviews", which indicated that the officer legitimately believed that the younger boy "was going to shoot him", Quezada said.

"I don't get why he (the off-duty officer) wasn't charged with anything".

A spokesperson for the LAPD told HuffPost on Wednesday that it has launched an administrative investigation into the incident, adding that the off-duty officer is not now facing any charges. The Anaheim Police Department said in a statement it is also investigating the off-duty officer's actions and would present its findings to the Orange County prosecutor's office once it had completed its probe. Apparently, teens and children walk across the officer's lawn as part of a commonly used route to local schools.

Earnhardt Jr. would consider walking away as a champion
Preparing for this Sunday's season-opening Daytona 500 , Earnhardt spoke to the media and broached the topic of retirement.

Wednesday night, hundreds of demonstrators gathered outside the officer's home. The Anaheim protest descended three hours later.

One attempts to break the officer's grip on Dorscht, while another rushes in, pushing the officer into a hedge in an apparent attempt to dislodge his grip.

Many repeated the mantra of Black Lives Matter - "hands up, don't shoot" - a national movement that emerged in response to police-involved shootings of minorities, mostly African American men.

Police have stated that one of the teens threatened to shoot the officer, which is why he was arrested.

"They need to learn to respect other people's property", said resident Cecelia Wilks.

"This has been a blow to our community", he said.

Protesters later took over a nearby intersection, blocking traffic and shouting "no justice, no peace!"

"We're not taking this incident lightly", Wyatt said. "Everybody look out for each other tonight". Police later arrive on the scene.

As the two struggle, the boy accuses the officer of hitting him in the testicles, to which the man replies "Because you've been resisting this whole time".

Crowds chanted "whose streets?"
