Statue of girl facing down Wall Street bull highlights inequality

Wall Street meets

She initially meant to have the girl charging back against the bull, but decided it would be more effective to have the girl standing strong.

On Women's Day, a new defiant statue of a little girl was placed opposite the raging bull in front of Wall Street firm on Tuesday.

State Street said it would vote against boards of companies that fail to take steps to increase its female board members, and plans on sending letters to 3,500 asking companies to act.

The sculpture, which appears to be of a young white girl, will reportedly remain installed alongside Arturo Di Modica's "Charging Bull" at least through the end of the month (though a Google Maps pin for "Fearless Girl" lists a March 19 end date). The study also found that companies that lacked gender diversity on their boards were, on average, more likely to suffer from governance related issues. Inspired by recent "Day Without an Immigrant" protest that took place across the country in February, women across the USA are abstaining from work, study, or spending money.

"In my 20 years in advertising, I personally have not seen anything like this", he added.

Guy tied his career-high with 20 points in the game, looking poised and confident in his first collegiate postseason match. After Artis responded with a 3, Perrantes made it two in a row from long range in a span of 56 seconds.

-This girl is not afraid of anything: not even a charging bull. Bull, as part of a campaign by US fund manager State Street to push companies to put women on their boards, in the financial district in NY.

Chandrasekar Sundaram says a woman is the CEO of the company he works for in Texas, Hewlett-Packard, and he says there are quite a few women in top executive positions there.

"Wall Street is a traditionally male environment and it says, 'Hey, we're here, '" she said. The powerful piece was a symbol of Americans' can-do energy following the 1987 stock market crash, and it proved so popular that the city allowed the bull to stay.

"Better boards just make better decisions and drive company change in a more proactive way", she said.

The company has also implemented a potent visual aid in its campaign, by unveiling a statue of a small girl - "representing the future", the company said - directly opposite the iconic bull statue on Wall Street. With the Day Without A Woman strikes mobilized all over the country, women have been making themselves heard in new and glorious ways, and many businesses and organizations are doing their parts to help their female employees get the support they need.
