Congress introspects 'Leadership organisation articulation and money – we have none'

The BJP government in Manipur led by Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh won the floor test in the state Assembly on Monday.

In the 60-member House, BJP won 21 seats and Congress 28. BJP-led government in the state is enjoying support of four legislators each from National People's Party and Naga People's Front, one legislator each from Lok Janshakti Party, All India Trinamool Congress and Congress.

Governor Najma Heptullah appointed BJP legislator V Hangkhalian as Pro-Tem Speaker. He was also elected with a voice vote against Congress candidate Govindas Khonthoujam.

Also, Congress MLA T. Shyamkumar defected to become a cabinet minister.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar and other top civil and police officers attended the swearing-in ceremony.

Singh said his government priority is to give proper governance to the state.

The governor will address the House and the new government will present its first budget tomorrow.
