Malaysia, North Korea exchange 'hostages,' resolving weeks of tensions

The move came after Malaysia and North Korea struck a deal this week to end a diplomatic stand-off over the February 13 murder of Kim Jong Nam, the estranged half-brother of North Korean ruler Kim Jong Un.

However, both men, namely the Second Secretary at the North Korean Embassy in Malaysia, Hyon Kwang-Song, 44, and the other who was an employee of North Korean Airline, Kim Uk-il, 37 had been interrogated by the police earlier.

Two women - one Vietnamese and one Indonesian - have been charged with killing Kim, who died after the women were seen on airport surveillance cameras smearing a substance on his face as he waited to catch a flight.

Malaysian prosecutors have charged two women - from Indonesia and Vietnam - with killing Kim Jong-nam, but South Korean and United States officials regard them as pawns in an operation carried out by North Korean agents.

Malaysian authorities had sought to question eight North Koreans over the killing, five of whom had already returned home and the remaining three who were until recently holed up in the country's embassy in Malaysia.

They say Kim Jong-un had issued a "standing order" for the assassination of his half-brother, in order to consolidate his own power after the death of their father in 2011.

"Thus, we hope North Korea will no longer raise such problems as this could jeopardise diplomatic relations between the two countries", he told Malaysian reporters in Chennai at the conclusion of his two-day visit today. Malaysia on Thursday agreed to release the body of Kim Jong-nam.

PM Modi: New India is manifestation of strength of all Indians
He insisted that the all-digital payment schemes were being adopted by not just urban India but also by the "poorest of the poor". People of India have rejected corruption and black money, PM Modi said.

No one wants "fat-shaming" to lead to nuclear war, but no one-including North Korea's allies, most likely-would disagree about the insane part. Police chief Khalid said the North Korean embassy had at first confirmed the identity, but changed its stance the next day.

Kim Jong-Nam, who had been living in exile in the Chinese territory of Macau for several years, survived an attempt on his life in 2012, according to South Korean lawmakers.

Pinkston said that while North Korea could view both the assassination and removing its stranded nationals from Malaysia's jurisdiction as a successful mission, the three men could still likely expect a rough reception at home.

"It will harm the relationship between the two countries", he said.

North Korea has maintained that the dead man is not Kim Jong-nam, saying instead the body is that of Kim Chol, which was the name on the victim's passport.

The police chief added that Malaysia released Kim Jong Nam's body after receiving a request from his next of kin.

They reportedly left for Pyongyang in the afternoon, using an Air China flight.
