Delhi Experiences The Hottest Day Of March Since 2011

The Safdarjung observatory registered a maximum temperature of 38.6 degrees Celsius, five notches above normal, making it the hottest day of March since 2011, said a Met department official.

Across the State, the highest temperature on Wednesday was recorded in Adilabad at 41 degrees Celsius, while the lowest minimum temperature of 21 degree Celsius was recorded at Medak.

Banda in Uttar Pradesh was the hottest place in the country today, recording a maximum of 44.8 degrees Celsius, while many other cities too registered 40-plus temperatures as the heat wave onslaught continued in several parts of the country. Britain bans laptops on flights from six countries
No U.S. airlines are involved because they don't offer direct service to the U.S. from the targeted airports, U.S. officials said. US officials would not say how long the ban will continue, saying only that it will be reevaluated on a regular basis.

According to the IMD's Regional Meteorological Centre in Mumbai, the maximum temperature is likely to be above 40 degrees Celsius at a few places over north central Maharashtra and Marathwada and drop thereafter.

However, he warns that this is not the end of the heat as the summer months are yet to arrive.

The maximum temperature would continue to be above normal by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius, and could be above 40 degrees at isolated places across the state, IMD officials said. The temperatures are hovering over 35-36 degrees Celsius in the plains.

The city witnessed light showers twice in the day, but overall saw pleasant weather. The maximum temperature in Amritsar was 34.8 degrees Celsius, five notches above normal. There will be no respite in day temperature in next couple of days and nights will be hotter. The rise in temperature across the state is an after-effect of hot winds blowing in neighbouring states which is directly influencing the weather of Madhya Pradesh.
