UN Security Council strongly condemns N.Korea missile test

South Korea and the US confirm North Korea launched a single ballistic missile at a facility near Sinpo at 6:42 a.m. Wednesday Seoul time (5:42 p.m. Tuesday ET).

North Korea fired the ballistic missile into the Sea of Japan on Wednesday in what was seen as a warning ahead of the US-China summit.

"We have no further comment", U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said.

Meantime, North Korea threatened to conduct more missile testings in response to the two-month-long Foal Eagle exercise between the US and South Korea, which will last through April.

Two weeks ago the South Korean and United States militaries said they had detected a failed North Korean ballistic missile launch.

Defying the worldwide community, North Korea test-fired four missiles on March 5, and another on February 12.

Last August Pyongyang also successfully test-fired a submarine-launched ballistic missile 500 kilometres towards Japan, far exceeding any previous sub-launched tests, in what the North s leader Kim Jong-Un hailed as the "greatest success".

South Korea's foreign ministry strongly condemned the launch, which it said represented a "threat to peace and stability of the whole world". It was launched Wednesday at 6:42 a.m. Seoul time from a site in the vicinity of Sinpo, South Hamgyong province, a South Korean Defense Ministry official said.

Hyten added that America's early missile program was based on liquid fueled rockets that could be unstable and risky but "a solid is a much better solution".

North Korea has carried out a series of missile tests over the past month, though its most recent one on March 22 ended in failure with the missile exploding nearly immediately.

AP WAS THERE: US Congress declares war during WWI
Mexico would recover land lost to the United States in an earlier war, including Texas, in exchange for German gold and weapons. Secondly, the war had benefited the US economy and given birth to the world's most powerful military-industrial complex.

Experts and officials in the South and the United States believe Pyongyang is still some time away from mastering all the technology needed for an operational ICBM system, such as re-entry into the atmosphere and subsequent missile guidance.

Trump warned that the United States would take unilateral action to eliminate the nuclear threat from North Korea unless China increased pressure on Kim Jong Un's regime.

The latest launch came after President Donald Trump threatened the USA was prepared to go it alone in bringing the North to heel if China did not step in, and ahead of a meeting with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping. "And China will either decide to help us with North Korea, or they won't".

More recently, North Korea failed in an attempt to fire a missile off its east coast after it exploded shortly after launch.

It flew a distance of around 60 kilometers (37 miles) and flew as high as 189 kilometers (117 miles), South Korean officials said.

Council members "expressed their utmost concern" about North Korea's "highly destabilising behavior and flagrant and provocative defiance of the Security Council".

"We are exploring a new range of security and diplomatic measures".

In Tokyo, Abe said Trump had reaffirmed that all options are available in dealing with North Korea's nuclear and missile programs.

Trump will host Xi for two days of talks, starting Friday, at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.

North Korea now has the strength to "wipe out" the United States "in a moment" with an H-bomb, the editorial said. Earlier in March, North Korea fired four ballistic missiles that flew about 1,000 kilometers (620 miles), with three of them landing in waters that Japan claims as its exclusive economic zone.
