Trump to NY Times: Susan Rice May Have Committed a Crime

The president declined multiple requests to provide substantive evidence or the names of Obama administration officials he claims were involved.

Trump, meanwhile, told The New York Times that he thinks Rice may have committed a crime.

Trump told the New York Times Wednesday that media outlets, including the Times, have not adequately covered the story.

Trump does not claim to have such evidence.

"I believe if there is any truth at all to these allegations, or any substance to them at all then Susan Rice will have to testify before the Intelligence Committee in the House and the Senate...."

Here's what we can say about the Rice situation at this point.

In the Access Hollywood tape, Trump said, "I better use some Tic Tacs just in case I start kissing her", adding that he immediately starts kissing "beautiful" women when he encounters them.

In an interview with MSNBC on Tuesday, Rice acknowledged that she sometimes asked for the names of Americans referenced in reports.

Rice served as the national security adviser to President Barack Obama from 2013 to 2017 and was one of several senior national security officials authorized to request the identity of US persons who appear in classified intelligence reports.

Two weeks ago, she insisted she knew "nothing about this" and was "surprised to see reports" about unmasked information.

Gibson failed to clear the danger and Hernandez teed up Niasse, who is on loan from Everton , to shoot home in the 27th minute. Both tucked chances away from close range as Southampton finally reaped reward after creating a myriad second-half chances.

"The standard is whether the USA person's identity is needed to understand the importance of foreign intelligence information", Adam Klein, a senior fellow with the Center for a New American Security, told The Daily Signal. Some Trump allies have accused Rice of unmasking officials for political reasons.

President Trump addresses a joint news conference with Jordan's King Abdullah II in the Rose Garden of the White House on April 5. FBI Director James Comey and the director of the National Security Agency, Mike Rogers, have since said they have seen no evidence to back up Trump's allegations.

Rice's official role would have given her the ability to make those requests for national security purposes. She called the unmasking process routine and said she only did it when it pertained to matters of national security. Richard Burr (R-N.C.), said that Rice may be interviewed as part of the committee's work.

Rice alluded to that Russian Federation probe in her interview, saying it was of "grave concern".

That prospect arose after news reports that Rice sought the identities of persons close to Donald Trump whose communications were captured in surveillance of foreigners by USA spy agencies.

As more is discovered about the activities of Dr. Rice, many questions still remain unanswered-which means her appearance before congressional panels may be unavoidable.

"I leaked nothing to nobody, never had, never would", Rice told MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell. President Trump has tried to turn attention related to the investigation of Russian meddling in the US election toward her. Typically, when Americans are swept up in foreign surveillance, they are referred to as something like "Person One", hiding their names. "The president of the United States and people in the White House do not have the ability to order such collection".

On Thursday, Nunes announced he had been the subject of accusations to the House Ethics Committee related to the White House episode, ones he called baseless. Rand Paul said Thursday Congress would need to approve military action in Syria.

Rep. Adam Schiff of California, the ranking Democrat on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, criticized Republicans for focusing on Rice.
