Cops fired after videos surface of them punching and kicking motorist

A Gwinnet County police officer was sent home on leave and is under investigation

Prior to the announcement of McDonald's termination, Gwinnett police officials had called the video of his alleged actions "very disturbing" and vowed a thorough investigation.

Master Police Officer Robert McDonald "stepped outside the guiding principles of our agency", a statement from the Gwinnett County Police Department says.

Master Police Officer Robert McDonald, a 3-year veteran, was sacked Thursday after a video captured by a witness showed him kicking a handcuffed man. "We do not tolerate actions that are not consistent with our core values or state law".

In a Wednesday night Facebook post, Sir Maejor Page, the controversial president of Black Lives Matter of Greater Atlanta, called for "criminal charges (to be) brought against this officer expeditiously". They added that they've launced a criminal investigation into Bongiovanni as well as a second officer involved in the controversial traffic stop. "What happened yesterday at the hands of my former officer was embarrassing not only to the Gwinnett County Police Department, but to all law enforcement". Deon Washington said a shift commander "initiated an immediate investigation" after being notified of Wednesday's incident.

Two police officers in Georgia were fired Thursday, less than 24 hours after cell phone videos surfaced of them punching and kicking a motorist in handcuffs.

Gwinett County PD has responded by terminating both officers for their conduct, in addition to leaving these details out of their reports.

As we already know, anytime you resist an officer's request, even if you are in the right, sh*t goes all the way left. The encounter, which has gone viral on social media, was between McDonald, another officer, and a man identified as 21-year-old Demetrius Bryan Hollins of Lawrenceville.

EU Urges Calm in Venezuela Amid Opposition Crackdown
The protesters demand elections among other things. "An 87-year-old woman died inside her apartment in Colinas de Bello Monte". It said 40 people will be charged for "acts of violence" in Monday's unrest.

"The history of this department is that we investigate our own people".

McDonald can be seen approaching Hollins and then stomping on his face as he lay on the ground unable to defend himself.

The officer then realized he had arrested Hollins in August 2016 for having marijuana and a loaded gun in the auto.

The officers are white.

Bongoivanni didn't mention punching Hollins in his incident report or in a follow-up interview, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. That's when the officer ordered Hollins out of the vehicle, and a brief struggle reportedly ensued.

Asked what message the incident sends, Ayers said, "We have standards, we have policies, and we're going to hold ourselves to those standards and to those policies". After the vehicle was pulled over, the smell of marijuana was evident and Hollins "began to act odd", the report said.
