Captain Marvel Movie Gets Directors

Variety reports that Boden and Fleck, best known for their work on Mississippi Grind and Half Nelson, have been tapped to direct Marvel's first female-led movie in the MCU.

Captain Marvel comes to theaters on International Women's Day on March 8, 2019.

Xi, Trump discuss North Korea, Syria
The "realities" that Trump faces include North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's accelerating pursuit of nuclear and missile technology. China, on the other hand, was a currency manipulator, a thief of USA jobs that should no longer be allowed to "rape our country".

Set to star Academy Award victor Larson in the title role, Captain Marvel will be preceded by May 2018's Avengers: Infinity War, which is expected to feature the character's big-screen debut. Boden and Fleck's films have been generally well-regarded by critics.

Some have been wondering, especially given the mixed response to some of Marvel's past female representation, why the studio's first major female-led film is only being co-directed by a woman instead of exclusively directed by one. The character - who gets her superpowers from a fusion of alien and human DNA - first appeared in comics in 1968. The resulting adjustment imbues her with the superpowers of strength, energy projection, and flight. From another vantage point, though, the Marvel movies are a series of limited opportunities: flat-looking, box-ticking widgets that can't ever be too distinct, lest they distract from that Very Big Story. Marvel is clearly hoping that the same magic touch that transformed Doctor Strange and the Guardians of the Galaxy into household names will apply here. We don't know what the plot will entail, who is directing the film, who will play the supporting characters, when the film will be released. and this list goes on and on. According to the trade's sources, Marvel Studios wanted to be sure that the script had been fine-tuned before bringing on a director. It was their vision for Carol Danvers though that finally won the studio over.
