Following the Times story, O'Reilly released a statement in which he described himself as a victim, and claimed his reason for paying out the settlements was to protect his children.
In a Wednesday interview with the newspaper, Trump came to O'Reilly's defense, calling him "a good person".
"I wonder why women at the network would take that particularly seriously", he said. "I think he's a person I know well - he is a good person", Trump asserted.
