US President Donald Trump has promised to "solve" North Korea and stop it developing nuclear weapons.

The North Korean statement did not provide details about how it allegedly broke up the assassination plot or if anyone else involved was in custody.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un was a target of bio-chemical weapons, according to the country's Ministry of State Security.

But ties have begun to fray in recent years, with China increasingly exasperated by the North's nuclear antics and fearful of a regional crisis.

North Korea vowed to "mercilessly destroy" the terrorists, the BBC reported Friday morning.

KCNA laid out the alleged plot in great detail, saying it was hatched in 2014 when the South Korean and United States intelligence agencies recruited a North Korean working in the timber industry in eastern Russian Federation. The National Intelligence Service dismisses them as propaganda. KCNA regularly carries vivid denunciations of the US, Japan, and the South Korean authorities, but it is rare for it to turn its ire on China.

"That is their central argument as to why they need to develop a military deterrent", he said.

"There is no doubt that the United States and South Korea have been thinking about eradicating Kim Jong Un, but it is hard to put into practice", he said.

Photos from the North's state media showed Kim laughing as his special forces troops attacked what appeared to be a full-scale mock-up of the Blue House before setting it on fire. Further communications take place in April.

South Korea's military "strongly condemned" the drill and warned of "fatal" consequences if the North provoked it.

In a bid to cut off Pyongyang's access to hard currency, the measure sanctions persons or entities that import North Korean coal, iron or iron ore beyond UN-imposed limits, or that facilitate the regime's online business activities. The only commando captured said he had come to "slit the throat" of Park Chung-hee.
