Albrecht Tied For 12th At NCAA Columbus Regional

WWU men’s golf set to compete in NCAA II West South Central Super Regional

Despite blustery conditions on the Scarlet Course at The Ohio State Golf Club, Wisconsin junior Gabby Curtis managed to shoot an even-par 72 in the first round of the NCAA Columbus Regional and is tied for second place after day one.

The top six teams from each of four regionals will advance to the nationals later this month in Sugar Grove, Ill.

USC, playing on this course for the first time since its 2008 NCAA title, is seeking its 20th straight trip to the NCAA final field while now riding an NCAA-record streak of even straight regional wins. Gumm carded two birdies and 13 holes scored at par or better.

Duke jumped out to a five-under-par ledger through three holes Monday and held the lead and made the turn at one-under-par, before the winds forced the Blue Devils to a 10-over-par back nine. Tech also had a 5-par average of 4.60 (-8). Metraux (Lausanne, Switzerland) was never more than one stroke over par and played her final five holes of the round at 1 stroke under par.

In each of their last four tournaments, the Tech women have finished higher than their position after the first round, including a leap from last place to third at the Big 12 tournament. We're just going to have to be very patient and play tough the next few days. She was able to get the ball up to the hill with the right speed and it tumbled into the hole to get her in for three at the par 5, 496-yard hole on the Rawls Course at Texas Tech.

Korea detains another American over alleged hostile acts
Some foreigners have said after their release that their declarations of guilt had been coerced while in North Korean custody. In 2016, North Korea sentenced Otto Warmbier, an American college student, to 15 years hard labor.

"I am happy to have some momentum as a team in the postseason", said Metraux.

"I think we are in great shape for tomorrow", said Gumm, who is in her third season as Florida State's team captain.

"We had a solid start", UF coach Emily Glaser said. Sophomore Michael Butler (Sammamish, WA/Skyline) had a pair of triple bogeys in an otherwise solid round, carding six birdies to finish at 1-over-par 73 to tie for 64th place. "We just need to stay strong and get better every day". After finishing 1-under par on the back-9, he posted a first-round score of 5-under par 67.

The Blue Devils didn't start teeing off Monday until approximately 9:20 a.m. local time. She will enter round two one shot out of a tie for seventh.

Florida State will play with Florida and the host school, Ohio State, in the second round.
