Israeli authorities release fabricated video to try to undermine Palestinian hunger strike

The strike, which began on April 17, followed a call by Marwan Barghouti, the most high-profile Palestinian in Israeli detention, for a protest against poor conditions and an Israeli policy of detention without trial that has applied to thousands of prisoners since the 1980s.

Israeli prison authorities claim Barhgouti broke his hunger strike - now on its 23rd day - twice by eating cookies and a candy bar.

Head of the Palestinian Prisoners' Club Qadoura Fares said that Israel's resort to a systematic method of spreading rumors is a demonstration of the utter failure of its previous measures to break the strike and an indication of the steadfastness of the growing hunger strike movement.

Barghouti, a leader of the second Palestinian uprising, is serving five life terms after being convicted by an Israeli court of directing two shooting attacks and a bombing that killed five people.

Israeli officials said it showed Barghouti to be a liar who only sought to boost his popularity in the eyes of the Palestinian public.

However, Israeli officials say only some 800 continue to refuse food and have threatened to bring in foreign doctors to force feed the prisoners.

David Moyes has revealed Sunderland owner Ellis Short wants him to remain in charge at the Stadium of Light despite his club's relegation from the Premier League.

In response to the ad, a large number of Palestinians called for a boycott of the pizza chain on social media.

Palestinians called for a boycott of Pizza Hut on Tuesday after the company's franchise in Israel was accused of mocking hunger-striking prisoners.

"Pizza Hut International apologises for any offence caused by a recent post on Pizza Hut Israel's Facebook page".

"The local franchisee in the country removed it immediately and the relationship with the agency that posted it was terminated, and we truly regret any hurt this may have caused". "Marwan will lead the strike until it accomplishes its goals".

"Pizza Hut is ridiculing the prisoners' strike", activist Alaa Abu Diab wrote on Facebook, using the hashtag #boycott_pizzahut.

Israeli authorities have detained approximately one million Palestinians since the establishment of the usurper regime of Israel in 1948 and the subsequent occupation of the West Bank, East al-Quds, and the Gaza Strip in 1967, according to a joint statement released on Saturday by Palestinian organizations.
