Elon Musk posts video of 'electric sled' for tunnel travel

Elon Musk Digs Started to Dig First Tunnel Sending Cars Through on Electric High Speed Sled

Elon Musk has revealed the next stage of his vision to transport cars through a network of underground tunnels at more than 120mph on a fleet of electric sleds.

Just a month after showing off a concept video for his vision of a high-speed traffic tunnel meant to solve rush hours and slow commutes, Musk went a step forward and presented the real thing.

After months of social media musing on tunneling to escape traffic congestion in metropolitan Los Angeles, Musk is moving ahead with test boring in a Hawthorne parking lot across Crenshaw Boulevard from SpaceX. The twisted genius just posted video of a test sled zooming through a test tunnel.

Mind you, it's not clear if Musk has the necessary approval yet for his tunnels.

Its subscribers Elon Musk honestly warned that watching video can cause the audience nausea or dizziness. Ideally, Musk said the tunnels would get someone from Westwood to LAX in just five minutes.

The company's first "Boring Machine" is named "Gardot" and will be several hundred feet long once it is complete.

Miley Cyrus releases music video for new single "Malibu'"
She is solo in the video (dog cameos notwithstanding), but the presence of a phantom leading man is very much felt. The 32-year-old singer took to Twitter on Thursday to praise Cyrus for her latest single, "Malibu".

The most impressive video shows the testing of the electric sled.

The Boring Company concept started in late 2016 with Musk tweeting about how much he hated being stuck in traffic. "Full length of first tunnel will run from LAX to Culver City, Santa Monica, Westwood, and Sherman Oaks", he wrote.

The CEO posted the video to Instagram. The company uses giant boring machines to make the tunnels.

With that, the so-called Boring Company was born, another addition to Musk's ever-growing portfolio of technology ventures.

"The race between Gary, our pet snail who lives in a pineapple, and Godot, our tunnel-boring machine, begins soon!", Musk captioned the photo.

At the end of April, after obtaining a tunnel-boring machine, Musk described his plans in detail during a TED Talk interview.
