'It Takes Just The Slightest Amount': Officer Recovering After Accidental Fentanyl Overdose

An East Liverpool Police officer while responding to a drug-involved call Friday night accidentally touched Fentanyl and overdosed

Police believe he overdosed from the mystery drug getting into his system through contact with his skin.

Captain Wright, of the East Liverpool police department in OH, said that officers will no longer test suspected drugs in the field, for fear of accidental exposure.

During the stop, the driver of the auto allegedly tried to use his foot to rub a white powder into the carpet.

Green put on gloves and a mask when searching the vehicle, but when he returned to the police station, another officer noticed Green had a white powder on his shirt.

But when he got back to the station, another officer noticed Green had white powder on his shirt.

East Liverpool patrolman Chris Green almost died from contact with the drug, requiring four doses of Narcan, WCPO Channel 9 reports.

Green was given Narcan, rushed to the hospital then given three more doses of Narcan.

"I reach around, touched it and flicked it off", Green said.

The drug is also threatening the safety of police and first responders.

"I started talking weird", he said. An ambulance was also called for the suspect who reportedly fell ill soon after being taken into custody.

Green arrested the two men - Buckle and 24-year-old Cortez Collins.

Edouard named as French premier
Macron, a former minister and investment banker, was elected as the country's youngest-ever leader since Napoleon on May 7. Philippe, the mayor of the Normandy port of Le Havre, is a trained lawyer and an author of political thrillers.

Overdose calls come in spurts, Lane said.

Green is expected to fully recover.

When asked how he could go back to the job Green said, "I grew up wrestling, football, MMA boxing my whole life I've always had that competitive drive".

"We changed our procedures to where we used to field test-drugs", Wright said.

"God was surely looking over me", Green said.

Buckel, the suspect in the East Liverpool case, was arrested and faces felony drug charges.

"He's lying on the couch", Lane said.

He, however, is speaking to prosecutors and other officials about how to legally seize the vehicle and have it destroyed, due to the suspected narcotics possibly still inside.

Fentanyl is used as a substitute for opioid-dependent individuals, but it is more risky than heroin because it is "much more potent than heroin and results in frequent overdoses, " according to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Or it gets airborne, you inhale it.

An Ohio police department found out this weekend that it's a scary situation when a brother in blue accidentally overdoses on the scene.

Wright says fentanyl and carfentanyl, opiods containing drugs used to tranquilize elephants, are often ingested under the assumption it's heroin.
