Allardyce says Sakho deal must make financial sense for Palace

Wilfried Zaha

Palace's Premier League status was secured with last weekend's 4-0 defeat of Hull, but they remain capable of finishing anywhere between 11th and 16th, meaning that under the terms of the present television deal a significant bonus could be earned.

Manager Sam Allardyce said in March it would be hard to seal a deal amid reports Liverpool have set a £30million asking price, but Palace insist they will do all they can to keep him. But I couldn't continue.

Having seen his career stall after moving to United as Sir Alex Ferguson's last signing - Zaha made two substitute appearances for them in the Premier League - it is understood he is wary of leaving Selhurst Park for a club where he could face more competition for a regular place.

"I won't be trying players for the sake of it", the 62-year-old said.

"It was Wembley and I hadn't even had the opportunity to get a game under my belt there. It was a gut wrencher, that".

"I haven't spoken to Roy". I'm not criticising the FA because they felt they needed to make a decision.

"If Yohan is not 100 per cent I won't play him".

It was apparent the Ducks came to play Game 4 nearly before country star Kelly Clarkson finished the National Anthem. You saw last game the Ducks came out very physical and guys like Harry Zolnierczyk got tossed around and banged up.

Just three months after losing the England job, Allardyce was back in football with Palace after being encouraged to return by former Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson, a longstanding friend. "No doubt about that", Allardyce said. "I think Joe Ledley told the Palace lads it was coming".

Allardyce's men also beat champions Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool as they pulled off a great escape.

"I'm not going to try and be coy about it".

"When I got back from Spain, [Alex Ferguson] Fergie invited me to a game", Allardyce added.

Spurs' current first team does not need too much altering, but rather strength in numbers.

"We will get more money in the turnover and if you get more money in the turnover you'll get extra budget (for wages and transfers)".
