North Korea Threatens Russia, China with Launch of New Missile

United States Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley delivers remarks at a Security Council meeting in April

The U.N. Security Council is strongly condemning North Korea's latest ballistic missile test and vowing to impose new sanctions in response to its "flagrant and provocative defiance" of council demands to halt all nuclear-related tests.

In a statement, adopted unanimously, the 15-member council urged the communist nation to show "sincere commitment to denuclearization through concrete action".

Kim Jong-Un was on hand and "hugged" his rocket scientists after what North Korean media hailed as the successful test of a "medium long-range" ballistic missile that is capable of carrying a heavy nuclear warhead.

Seoul- Washington and Tokyo have requested the Security Council to hold an emergency meeting, which could be held today in NY, according to what Uruguay delegation has announced.

North Korea fired a ballistic missile that landed in the sea near Russian Federation on Sunday, in a launch the United States called a message to South Korea, days after its new president took office pledging to engage Pyongyang in dialogue.

"North Korea is capable of continuing to develop longer-range missiles", Physicist David Wright, told CBS News, adding that the regime's longest-distance test to date shows they are inching closer to a missile capable of reaching the us mainland.

In his first comments since a North Korean missile plunged into the sea off the Russian coast on Sunday, President Vladimir Putin condemned Pyongyang's nuclear program as "harmful and risky", but he added that the global community should respond with talks, not threats.

A closed-door emergency Council session was set for tomorrow. The country has conducted multiple successful nuclear tests since 2005 despite crippling worldwide sanctions and a concerted US cyber campaign to disrupt their operations. He added, however, that in his view, "there is still a window for trying to negotiate with North Korea... at a point which it is much less of a threat to the U.S".

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin said the US needed to "stop scaring" the North Korean regime.

The affected groups include the United Kingdom hospitals , FedEx, a Spanish telecom, the Russian Interior Ministry and much more. It locks the user out in order to prevent them from accessing any saved files until they pay a certain amount of money.

Launched from Kusong, in western North Korea, the missile flew for 435 miles before landing in the Sea of Japan.

Kim Dong Yub, a professor at the Institute for Far Eastern Studies in Kyungnam University, told South Korea's Yonhap News Agency that, fired at a standard angle, the missile "may have a maximum range capable of reaching Alaska and Hawaii".

Russian President Vladimir Putin said the test was risky, but warned against attempts to "intimidate" Pyongyang.

South Korea's unification ministry spokesman Lee Duk-haeng said Monday Seoul called on Pyongyang to cease engaging in provocations.

But after a number of recent missile tests failed very publicly, Sunday afternoon saw the test-firing of a missile that came closer to Russian Federation than any previous launches.

North Korea, in defiance of United Nations sanctions, has already conducted five nuclear tests as part of their developments in nuclear weapons and missiles capable of delivering those weapons to their target.

The KCNA report said that, as ever, the test had been overseen by the North's Supreme Leader, Kim Jong-un.

Pyongyang conducted two nuclear tests and dozens of missile launches past year, drawing strong condemnation from the global community.
