United States and Japan stage military exercises in Sea of Japan

USS Vinson, USS Reagan Carrier Strike Groups Conduct Dual Exercises in Sea of Japan

U.S. Navy aircraft carriers USS Ronald Reagan (front) and USS Carl Vinson and (back R) sail with their strike groups and Japanese naval ships JS Hyuga (C) and JS Ashigara during training in the Sea of Japan, June 1, 2017.

Japan has also been pushing to increase pressure on Pyongyang through working with other countries.

The Sea of Japan separates Japan from the Korean peninsula.

The US has sent its strike group to the region in what is meant to be a show of force amid North Korea's advancing missile and military nuclear programs.

The Japan MSDF also conducted joint exercises with the USS Carl Vinson strike group in April.

The dual-carrier exercises come days after North Korea launched another missile into the Sea of Japan.

"The U.S. had better make a wise option though belatedly, before it may face further disgrace, clearly understanding that time, justice and final victory all belong to the DPRK holding firm the most powerful nuclear weapon", the official statement issued by the government-run Korean Central News Agency read. United States and Japanese leaders had agreed 26 May to increase tangible pressure on North Korea.

Gujarat GSEB SSC Class 10 exam results declared

The U.S. military is steadily assembling the hardware necessary for an attack on North Korea.

American aircraft carriers, destroyers and submarines are now sailing the Sea of Japan, in addition to Japan's Self-Defense Forces.

If Pyongyang crosses a red line, it might not only be bombarded by Tomahawk missiles.

At the same time, Japan's Air Self Defense Force F-15s are taking part in simulated combat with US Navy F-18 fighters, the military added.

Washington and Seoul already have established operation plans made on the assumption of all-out war with Pyongyang.

The United States is considering an operation to assassinate the leader of North Korea - Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea.

Japan and United States navy forces routinely train together to improve readiness and to provide stability and security for the Asia Pacific region. "As long as there is a risk of casualties in a counterstrike, it's impossible to imagine that the United States would launch a preemptive strike".
