Facebook dabbling with 'Artificial Intelligence' to remove terrorist content

Facebook says using AI to fight terrorism on its platform

The blog, called "Hard Questions", will address philosophical debates about the role of social media in society, from what should happen to a person's digital history after they die to whether social media is good for democracy. Recent attacks have made people question what we should be doing to stand up against radicalisation but our commitment is long standing. "We want Facebook to be a hostile environment for terrorists".

Facebook is using its most "cutting edge techniques" in AI to specifically combat terrorist content about ISISI, al Qaeda and their affiliates, they said.

On Tuesday, British Prime Minister Theresa May and French President Emmanuel Macron launched a joint campaign to go after "terrorists and criminals" on the internet and to root out radicalizing material. "We are now focusing our most cutting edge techniques to combat terrorist content about ISIS, Al Qaeda and their affiliates, and we expect to expand to other terrorist organizations in due course". But he added that human experts are better at analysing the context of a post, and in grappling with the evolving methods used to bypass Facebook's counterterrorism measures. "But we know we can do better at using technology". "Already, the majority of accounts we remove for terrorism we find ourselves".

The world's largest social media network, with 1.9 billion users, Facebook has not always been so open about its operations, and its statement was met with skepticism by some who have criticized USA technology companies for moving slowly.

The use of AI in the fight against terrorism is relatively new, but the authors said "it's already changing the ways we keep potential terrorist propaganda and accounts off Facebook".

This initiative includes efforts to identify "repeat offenders" when it comes to those open Facebook accounts that publicly support causes such as militant jihadism, are subsequently expelled from the social network, but then attempt to repeat said activity but under a pseudonym.

Oil settles up before API reports surprise USA crude build
He said at OPEC's meeting in late May that there would be a "marked" decrease in the kingdom's shipments to the U.S. Qatar crisis will have a very little impact on global oil prices as the country is not a major producer of Oil .

The company is working on using artificial intelligence to try to prevent users who have had one account removed for posting terrorist content from creating new accounts with different identities, according to the post. In addition to reports and reviews from its Community Operations team, Facebook is also employing some 150 counter-terrorism experts as well, including academic experts, former prosecutors, former law enforcement agents, analysts, and engineers, the post said.

The organization's commitment lies on fully supporting law enforcement agencies by providing any data they require, promoting encryption to help secure users, and implementing these security measures in sister platforms like WhatsApp and Instagram as soon as possible.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Facebook has started deploying its artificial intelligence capabilities to help combat terrorists' use of its service.

Back in December, Facebook teamed up with Microsoft, Twitter and YouTube to create a database for terrorist propaganda and recruitment.

In the post, Bickert and Fishman admit "AI can't catch everything".
