Trump discusses concern over Qatar dispute with Gulf, Arab states in calls

The ultimatum is part of a 13-point list of demands that Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bahrain and the United Arab sent Qatar after imposing a blockade on the country.

Saudi Arabia, along with the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt, have boycotted Qatar over what they say is its support for Islamist extremism and close ties to Iran, seen by Gulf states as a unsafe regional rival.

Kuwait reportedly requested that the four countries grant the Gulf state a two-day extension but did not mention anything related to where Qatar stands regarding the demands.

Meanwhile, leaders of the United States and Russian Federation have stepped in to douse the fire, expressing their concerns about the standoff after the four countries abruptly suspended diplomatic relations and cut off land, sea and air travel to Qatar on 5 June, accusing it of supporting terrorism and destabilising the Gulf region.

The deadline to comply with the demands ended on Sunday, but the Gulf States and Egypt granted Qatar another 48 hours before the group would consider imposing further sanctions.

Qatar handed its response to Kuwait on Monday but nothing has yet been disclosed of the official document.

Qatar on Thursday said the list contained some demands impossible to meet because the underlying accusation was untrue.

Illinois Entering Year Three With No Budget
Credit agencies have warned that the state's debt would be rated "junk" status if the state didn't have a budget by July 1. She said that would make "the unthinkable" — such as delaying pension payments or not paying state workers — very likely.

Qatar is a member of Gulf Cooperation Council, together with Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Bahrain.

The hours left for Qatar to formally respond to a list of demands are slowly dwindling.

Mr Jubeir, striking a more conciliatory tone than he is ordinarily taken during the crisis, said his country sees Qatar as a friendly nation that has made some progress, but not enough.

Qatar's foreign minister says the list of demands was "meant to be rejected". "Qatar is prepared to face whatever consequences, but as, I have mentioned ... there is an worldwide law that should not be violated and there is a border that should not be crossed". The Qataris have denied the allegations.

They also urged the country to pay compensation for what they claimed to be "loss of life and other financial losses caused by Qatar's policies".

Ahead of an official response, Qatar's Foreign Minister, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, said his country would not meet the demands.
