Firefighters Hurt Responding to Over 100 Calls for Fireworks Fires

Hershey fireworks fire

One of the first incidents involving structure damage to a home happened Monday at 7:09 p.m.in the 700 block of Yukon Court in West Lincoln.

As Kern County gears up to enjoy spectacular Fourth of July firework shows, firefighters are cracking down on illegal celebrations. According to police, flames ignited after fireworks were thrown into a trash can, and then the fire spread to the auto as well as a basketball goal. "That's why we recommend that you do soak them in water and soak them in a metal can overnight", said Assistant Chief Mark Vendetto of the New Haven Fire Department.

Firefighters arrived to find flames spreading to the single-story home's attic, however, a quick aggressive attack had the fire under control in under five minutes.

"Even the simplest things like sparklers that we think are safe for kids can be like 1200 degrees", said Eureka Fire Department's Scott Barthelmass.

Nicola Sturgeon to 'reset' indyref2 plans
She said the SNP leader was "in denial" and "leaking credibility and confidence in her leadership by the hour". Scottish first minister says people are exhausted of "making political decisions".

The fire started in a palm tree and spread to other trees and two houses, officials said.

Most of the fires - more than 60 of them - were in dumpsters, as people tossed fireworks in to hear the loud boom and it caught fire. It is the likely cause of the fire, but a fire investigator will determine for sure.

Jacksonville Fire and Rescue had the fire out quickly and no one was injured.

They found a front porch on fire on Walnut Street between Broad and Jay Streets. The homeowners were boating on Capitol Beach Lake and no injuries were reported.
