Pistons renouncing Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, making him a UFA

The Detroit Pistons are renouncing their rights to Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, which means he will now become an unrestricted free agent. He was too far down the priority list for the Celtics to be that team to offer him the contract he'll command, but the Pistons will get Bradley for a year and will have the opportunity to make him a big offer.

The Pistons initially were expected to match any offer he received. The Nets have been considered a potential suitor for Caldwell-Pope since before free agency began.

The problem is the Nets now have nearly all of their salary-cap space tied up in an offer sheet to Washington Wizards small forward Otto Porter Jr., their first-choice restricted free agent.

More records for Federer but no match point glory
And seven-time champ Fed said: "That's five first- round withdrawals so far and the question is should they have started at all?" But Williams is taking the rest of the year off because she is pregnant, making way for the runner-up to take her spot.

Caldwell-Pope's -1.4 nERD would position him 5th among Lakers players now locked in for the 2017-18 season.

The team had extended a qualifying offer to Caldwell-Pope, but withdrew the offer and gave up the rights. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.com, the Pistons have chose to renounce Caldwell-Pope, a move that would make him an unrestricted free agent.

The former top-10 pick averaged 13.8 points while shooting at a 35 percent clip from three-point range this past season. But they signed guard Langston Galloway to a three-year, $21 million contract and acquired Bradley, one of the top two-way guards in the National Basketball Association, from the Boston Celtics for forward Marcus Morris.
