John Oliver Joins Jon Favreau's Live-Action 'The Lion King' As Zazu

John Oliver cast in Disney's live-action The Lion King

The Lion King remake cast has picked up Last Week Tonight host John Oliver to play the loyal bird who keeps Simba in line, which is pretty much the ideal casting for the British comedian. "Mr Bean" star Rowan Atkinson voiced the uptight hornbill in the original 1996 animated film.

While trying to appear proper and dignified, Zazu often became easily rattled when dishing out advice to the lions in the narrative, including Mufasa, and later on, his son Simba.

Recently it was revealed that Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner were cast to play the comedy duo Timon and Pumbaa. But the host has also done a lot of voice work in the past, including "The Smurfs", guest appearances on "Rick and Morty", "Bob's Burgers", and "The Simpsons".

John Oliver will be joined by several comedians and actors to voice characters for the film. Now, John Oliver is signed on to join the cast, and the role is just ideal for him.
