Marawi airstrikes to continue despite accident

China, India vow to support Philippines' recovery from Marawi battle

Children and hostages in the Philippines are being forced to fight with Islamic State supporters while attempting to take control of Marawi, the country's military said Monday.

Photos that show these were released by the Joint Task Force Marawi Thursday noon, July 13.

"The problem would not have erupted in this magnitude if the proliferation of loose firearms was addressed years earlier", Padilla said.

Padilla said the aircraft had a "very high success rate" in nearly 70 missions. Large debris from heavily reinforced buildings accidentally hit the two of our personnel who succumbed to death in the process, ' he said.

"We are saddened by this unfortunate incident". The military said 11 soldiers sustained minor wounds.

"This [recent] incident that happened, the bomb did not hit our men, it hit an area proximate to where they were, which caused the collapse of the building", Padilla said. Two light military aircraft trainer SF-260TP jets were positioned to strike, but the second one failed to hit its target and struck members of the 55th Infantry Battalion instead, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said.

The above-mentioned aircraft, which is capable of flying up to Mach 1.5 speed, has successfully performed 70 close-air support missions prior Wednesday's incident.

Opioid perscriptions have dropped by double digits, CDC says
Nationally, some numbers are encouraging: The CDC found prescription numbers peaked in 2010 and decreased each year since. However, prescribing practices are widely inconsistent and patients receive different care depending on where they live.

"There are estimates (of) about 300 or more who are still unaccounted for", Padilla said, citing reports of the Marawi City local government. "We reach out to the families and loved ones of the soldiers who lost their lives, and pray for the speedy recovery of those who were injured", he added.

Militants seized Marawi, considered the Muslim capital of the largely Catholic Philippines, on May 23 in a bid to create an IS province, and over 100 remain holed up in the city despite intense military efforts to oust them.

"We continuously receive testimonials very disruptive (of the civilians managed to flee), according to which children and hostages are used in the fights", he said.

"During encounter, if the wounded are children, we will help them immediately".

With the latest discovery, the number of civilians killed by the terrorist amid the conflict has increased to 45, but Galvez said there could be more.

"While these terrorists kill people indiscriminately, respecting no one in trying to dissect our land, our soldiers will continue to liberate Marawi City, bearing in mind that this city belongs to our Maranao brothers and sisters, and this land belongs to the Filipino people", he said.
