Democrats renew efforts to link banks, Trump and Russian Federation

President Donald Trump has argued that he did all he could to confront Russian President Vladimir Putin on election meddling and said he told Putin the U.S.

The legislation, however, has stalled in the House as the administration works to soften the congressional reach. Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen of Maryland as well as Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand of NY, the lawmakers wrote that "the Russian government has done nothing to deserve renewed access to these compounds". "We urge you to be similarly vigilant as you broach negotiations on a range of bilateral issues with the Russians".

"We have very heavy sanctions on Russian Federation right now", Trump told reporters on Air Force One in what was originally an off-the-record conversation Wednesday night, according to excerpts released by the White House.

However, there was no sign of support from Trump's fellow Republicans, who control majorities in both the House and the Senate and control what legislation comes up for a vote.

On Thursday, the chairs of the Senate Banking and Foreign Relations committees said they were still reviewing the senators' North Korea bill, but were generally supportive of including congressional review power in such measures. "Because from day one I wanted a strong military, he doesn't want to see that".

Pelosi said, "This week we saw cold hard evidence of the Trump campaign - indeed the Trump family eagerly intending to collude possibly, with Russian Federation", - a hostile foreign power- to influence American elections.

Problems arose in part because the Senate version would have allowed any single member of Congress to force a vote. It's not a question of being a Democrat or Republican; it's about being an American, which should supersede any other consideration.

Democrats say they're concerned the stalling tactics could allow the Trump administration to return two Russian compounds in NY and Maryland that the Obama administration seized in December. Ben Cardin, warned during a committee hearing Thursday that "we would consider that a major affront to Congress if action was taken on" returning the seized compounds to Russian Federation before consulting with lawmakers.

House Democrats are using a new tactic to gather information on Deutsche Bank (DB) as part of a broader party effort to push action on inquiries into President Donald Trump's ties to Russian Federation.

"Republicans in Congress should stop hiding, and stop hiding the truth from the American people", Mrs. Pelosi, California Democrat, said at a press briefing on Capitol Hill.

House Democrats have charged that the change undercuts their ability to oppose any potential attempt by Trump to lift or ease the Russian Federation sanctions.

Between March 10 and June 21, committee Democrats have sent four letters - two to Deutsche Bank, one to Hensarling, and another to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin - requesting documents and answers about Russia's influence on the Trump administration. It was defeated in a party-line vote.
