'Kashmir is India and India is Kashmir', says Rahul Gandhi

Syed Salahuddin

Earlier, the United States had said that instead of waiting until "something happens", it would try and "find its place in efforts to de-escalate strains between Pakistan and India".

Responding to National Conference (NC) president and Member of Parliament Farooq Abdullah's statement that India should take help from U.S. and China to resolve the Kashmir issue, Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti said today that USA and China should mind their own business. You have to catch the bull by the horn. The way is to have a dialogue.

The former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir also asked, "Till what time should we wait?" and wondered how many more wars will India and Pakistan fight. "They can be asked to be a mediator", he said. "So take their help for talks and tell them we want to solve it", the 79-year-old leader said. "We have also arranged for ambulances near the danger zones", he said.

"Somebody has to be approached", he said.

He also attacked the Narendra Modi-led Central government and said its policies have "burnt Kashmir". "If you want to resolve Kashmir issue there is no other way", Peoples Democratic Party's Sartaj Madni was quoted by a news gathering agency as having said. You have atom bomb and they too have atom bomb.

Round 1: Brexit talks start in Brussels with 20 months to go
The talks are the first full round of negotiations that formally began last month with a one-day session to agree on a timetable. But the plan took a considerable blow when the Tories lost their majority in the House of Commons at the general election.

Mufti's comments come a day after, former J&K chief minister Farooq Abdullah courted controversy after he said that India should take help of ally countries like USA and China to resolve Indo-Pak conflict in Kashmir.

"He is a man with two faces', alleged BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh".

Mr. Abdullah on Friday sought the help of the USA and China "to mediate over the Kashmir issue". "Why is he resorting to such double standards?"

Mehbooba Mufti's statement comes in response to NC President Farooq Abdullah's statement suggesting that India and Pakistan should seek third party mediation in the Kashmir issue.

Following the criticism, Farooq's son Omar Abdullah defended him, saying that parties and politicians condemning Farooq's "third-party intervention" remark are giving a different spin to his statement.
